Affirmations for Healthy Living—and Their Proven Benefits
AFFIRMATIONS. We’ve all heard about them. Are they worth the hype?
According to science, yes— yes, they are.
First of all, just so we’re clear, what exactly is an affirmation?
An affirmation is simply a statement you recite to yourself— spoken out loud, in your mind, or written down— usually in a pattern of repetition and on a consistent basis.
To ‘affirm’ means to state as a fact or to assert strongly.
Thus, the intention of an affirmation is to take something that you want to believe or to have happen and state it as a fact.
Scientific research has shown that reciting affirmations affects the activity in our brains.
Affirmations have been proven to:
Promote healthy changes in our behavior
Improve self-efficacy
Improve self-control
Promote happiness
(Among many other things.)
Here is a list of affirmations I created with the intention of helping you shift your mindset towards living a holistically healthy life and implementing new habits surrounding nutrition and fitness.
Whether your goals are to lose weight, heal chronic illness, build muscle, become happier, foster self-confidence, or completely transform yourself— these affirmations will help you plant the seed.
